Our new Luton car park has become the latest to join the Park Active Initiative. As more people head back towards the office, it seemed like the ideal time to remind people of this brilliant scheme.
The Park Active Initiative is part of our commitment to making commuting as green as possible. After all, we’re called Green Parking for a reason! The Park Active Initiative is about encouraging people to park a bit further away than they normally would from their destination. The journey can then be finished using public transport, on foot or by bike!
Not only does this help cut down on emissions from driving, but it also helps reduce congestion in cities and improve air quality. This makes them much nicer places to work and move around in!

How to take part in the Park Active Initiative?
It’s as simple as parking a little further away. For example, if you normally drive all the way to the office, why not park at the local train station instead? Our Luton car park is just five minutes walk from Leagrave station, making it easy to get to a number of surrounding towns and cities.
How does the Park Active Initiative help the environment?
One side-effect of lockdown was that there were fewer cars, lorries and motorbikes on the road. This was great for the environment as it saw a drastic reduction in car emissions which helped improve air quality.
Cities across the entire globe saw pollution levels plummet as a result of fewer cars on the road. However, as businesses open up, it’s simply not sustainable to keep cars off the road. After all, people need to get to work! What we can do is make smart decisions about how we use our cars! Shortening our journeys, even a little bit, can help cut down on pollution. Plus, taking the rest of the journey by foot or public transport gives you a chance to unwind.
